Ruthie and Bo's Journey
Day 1 (May 14, 2025)
Ruthie and Bo were rescued by a veterinarian who learned of their dangerous and neglected living situation. Ruthie and Bo came from a litter of 10 puppies but only 4 survived as the mama dog was forced to raise her puppies outside in the elements in a densely wooded area. One by one the puppies were either picked off or fell to a deadly fate. The founder, Ellen Byrd, met up with the veterinarian's assistant and took in two of the puppies so that they could have a chance at life.

Weeks 4-7
The puppies have been doing amazing. They understood the concept of potty training very quickly. They don't have any accidents in their crate/kennel. The handful of times they have had an accident is when I waited too long to take them out and I wasn't paying attention to the signs. Ruthie has started to come to me to get my attention when she needs to go out and Bo will whine in his crate when he has to go. Bo has challenged me as he learned to climb out of the kennel so I had to switch him to just the crate. They are getting more comfortable on the leash and they have made friends with all my dogs.

Weeks 2-3
It took a few days for the puppies to warm up and get comfortable to being in a home. But once they learned they were safe, they quickly adapted and became friends with family members. They started basic training of leash walking, sit, crate training and potty training. They are starting to adjust nicely and have done very well with crate training. They only get rowdy in the kennel when they need to go potty.
